Why is the average gpa for top MBA schools so low? I see 3.3 avg gpa's for these schools and GMATs in the 700+s. Is GPA not important in MBA applications? Do they only care about GMATs and work experience?

They really don't focus on GPA. This is where going Ivy is to your significant advantage, I know plenty of kids from Ivies with 3.3-3.5s, high GMATs (since they are smart), and who got good jobs after graduation. A top 10 MBA is pretty much automatic then.

I think you answered your own question.
No, GPA is NOT the most important thing for MBA programs...
Work experience is MORE important... the applications to the top business
schools are daunting... many, many detailed essays.
Out of all the professional schools/graduate programs, MBA programs are much more open to unique extracurricular activities or life experiences...
more than anything, they want students who are excellent communicators with great verbal/writing capabilities.
