I was just wondering, what's the average gpa for EECS undergrads? How is it compared to the average gpa for the university as a whole?

I’m guessing around a 2.9 from what I hear. My friend was an EECS major and dropped it because he was put on academic probation (got a VERY low gpa). Average from the rest of the school is 3.4ish

Wow, that is insane. Is it really that hard? I thought EECS Gpa would be on average around 3.4 at least.

Read it: it’s bit scary

[Grading Guidelines for Undergraduate Courses | EECS at UC Berkeley](Grading Guidelines for Undergraduate Courses | EECS at UC Berkeley)

So if you get a GPA higher than 2.9, you’re considered “atypical”? WTH.

eec scientists are getting outsourced anyway. major in somethin else

The job market for EECS (particularly CS) is thriving right now despite the “economic situation” that so many other majors are lamenting about.

there are some stats on avg gpas here

given that eecs is the most popular engineering major and the avg gpa in coe is 3.2… you can do the math and see that either eecs itself is pretty close to a 3.2 or the other engineering majors are seriously inflated, but i doubt the latter to be true. The truth is, GPAs at berkeley are not that ‘deflated’. you will live.
