GPA from (I)GCSE's and/or A level

Hi!

I recently completed my final GCSE year and am in my first year of A levels. I, and I'm sure many others who are intent on applying to the US have come across GPA as a large factor of the application.

I've read up a lot and it seems like they don't actually calculate your exact GPA, rather use your grades in some other way so scale you up against other candidates.

Could someone please confirm, or tell me what the actual process is behind obtaining GPA in terms of UK based qualifications?

Cheers!

A*=4.3 or 4, A=4, B=3.7, C= 3.2 (between 3.3 and 3), D= 2.5, E= 2, F= 1, everything else = 0
All GCSE’s together = 50%, 3 A-Levels =50%, Further Maths adds points (in many universities you’d start in junior-level math)

Cheers!

In Year 11, I took the FSMQ. That’s said to be on the same level as AS level maths, but do you think that falls under GCSE?
