GPA help

Any solutions on how to get my GPA ready for schools like NYU? right now i have a 2.73

Get smarter.

Work harder.

Study more.

Yea, i know all of thats thanks. but i mean classes wise.?

You should really give more info. What grade are you in?

I’m a junior

Ouch. I’m going to be honest and tell you that your chances at NYU or other similar universities are little to none. Your GPA is just way too low. Did you do very good this year? If so, you might be able to bring it up to a little above a 3.0

You can’t do much right now in terms of grades. Study up, prepare for CC. Take a few semesters at a decent CC and transfer out.

You can always transfer into NYU after going to another college first.

Give up, you’re clearly not smart

You are smart, the type of gpa you have doesn’t determine your intelligence. It just tells how hard you are working. Try to do something to make yourself stand out, because to be honest that gpa is way too low, but there is hope. So don’t give up on your dream college, anything is possible. Numbers don’t tell the whole story, they look at your application holistically.

God I hate how condescending some students in here are. I would like to feel that I’m proud to be a CCer, but sometimes some people just make me feel ashamed. Did nobody ever teach y’all some common courtesy? Telling people they are not smart because of a low GPA means nothing. A lot of people on here do so much studying that they no doubt have little to no social whatsoever. After all that studying, they brag about hoe smart they are. Geez, shut it already you bunch of little pricks. Grow up.

OP, like I said, you have to have done really well this semester and will have to do really good next semester to possibly bring it up to a 3.0 at least and head off to your state flagship or even a community college. I have gotten in everywhere I have applied (except the ones that don’t decide until later and deferred from TCU–no idea why) with a 3.15 UW GPA, so it does not mean the end of the world. I probably had somewhere around your GPA junior year, but I decided that I had enough mediocrity in my life and got my act together. Good luck

^ You don’t understand sarcasm, do you. It’s also kind of funny, I don’t like people who intentionally try to outdo others purely on academics as much as I dislike people who randomly jump to conclusions and call others socially awkward “pricks”. Pretty ironic how you told others to grow up.

But anyway my post is still valid. Even though NYU is very difficult to transfer into, high marks at another college can change things. It’s your second chance if applying there as a senior doesn’t work out.

But another question: even if you can get in NYU, the question is: can you afford universities that expensive without breaking your parents’ bank? NYU is ridiculously expensive and I haven’t heard good things about its financial aid.

I’m not just going by this thread. Take a look around at the majority of threads and you will find what I’m talking about. People need to grow up and stop acting like little kids.

I would take time to really understand the material. By the way you’re not dumb. I think you can make it to NYU if you put everything into your work. This might seem overwhelming but it’s possible. My unweighted GPA isn’t nothing special either, it’s like 3.6. I really want to go to UPenn. I try my best all the time in school, and I don’t give up. Mind telling me your classes you are taking now?

Well I mean

But okay

You probably have to completely change your study habits, but getting into NYU in freshman admissions will probably not be possible for you (even if you get all A’s from now till college admissions, your GPA will not be quite high enough). Focus on learning to work very hard in high school and continue doing so in the best college you can get into. Then you may be able to transfer.
