Bleah, I'm a freshman who is confused about GPA (and worried).

Let's say for example that I have a B+ in a class at the end of Quarter 1. If I am able to pull this grade up to an A or an A+ by the end of the year and I get an average grade of an A, would colleges look at each quarter grade, or their average grade for the year?

In other words, how does GPA work...? My school doesn't have weighted GPA, if that helps any.

Thanks

Colleges use only semester grades, and usually recalculate your GPA to standardize across various high schools.

Wait are you sure of this? My friend told me they take the yearly average, and now this…?

They take your two semester grades to get a year’s average, not the four quarter grades, if that’s what you mean.

They take semester grades?!!?! Not quarter grades?!?!

Is your HS on a quarter system? If not then Vossron is correct.
