I understand that some companies have certain minimum GPA requirements when hiring students right out of college. Do they also look at GPA after having had a job or jobs?

After about 3 years, no one will ask or care about your GPA (except for graduate programs).

It depends on the company. Some who use it as as a screening process will always check GPA. Others won’t. In my experience, over time, it was less of an issue, but not a non-issue for all companies I sought employment at.

It becomes less important as you accumulate more work experience, but there may be a few companies that still care about your long ago college GPA.

I’ve been around the block a few times, and I’ve never seen a company that asked for the GPA as part of the interview process for experienced hires. Maybe that’s just engineering.

^ Maybe not all engineering firms act like the ones you have experience with? I think it would be completely reasonable to compare candidates based on their academic credentials for any job at any level of expertise. For better or worse, GPA is a measure of academic success.
