Hi, when people are writing in results threads their weighted GPA's, is that averaged with 9th and 10th grade (even if you didn't take weighted classes in those grades)?

Yes. The weighted GPA also considers all nonweighted classes that you take in your 11th and 12th grades.

@kkmama Does it consider UW classes even in 9th and 10th? (when I didn’t take any AP’)

Yes, the weighted GPA includes all classes in high school even if classes are not weighted. That means that freshman and sophomore year you couldn’t get higher than a 4.0 because you didn’t take any weighted classes.

Yes. Its all your classes combined.

@Jamoroso In college apps, is more importance given to UW GPA? Because in 9th and 10th grade, my school prohibits ANY AP classes and does not give any weight for honors classes.

OP, when you apply to colleges, your college counselor will submit a high school profile. On the profile, it will state the APs available and what their policy is on them. You will not be penalized for that. DO NOT compare yourself to the people on here.

Most colleges look at unweighted GPAs anyway. Because it may show the rigor of the schedule, but it can be misleading at times. A student can have a 3.3 GPA, which is average, but a 4.1 weighted GPA. These two are very different and te unweighted is more telling of who tht student really is.

Yes UW gpa is far more important, even if the school only gives W gpa, colleges usually calculate the UW gpa and use that to Compare to other students.
