GPA in Canada & Major

Hi, i've been dwelling on the idea of transferring for quite a time and now i got some questions about GPA and majors.

i'm currently a student at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada. As you know, GPA here is not calculated on a scale of 4.0

In UBC, A+ correspond to over 90% while A to over 85% . In this scale, what is the GPA necessary for transfer application? (typically to those prestigious uni =)

My predominant reason for transfer is I want to study architecture, a degree UBC does not offer. But I registered my first year courses in June with a standard science timetable (for only a small group of people who they thought to be qualified). As a result, I'm taking math, chem, bio, physics, English (required) and nothing related to architecture for my freshman year. Will this be a huge disadvantage?

How am i gonna show them my preference of architecture is well-thought and well-grounded?

Anything i can do beside pruning my portfolio over and over again?

THX...
:D

c’on guys,really looking for help here…

Average GPA of transfers really varies depending on the school. What are some schools you are looking at?

well, to name a few: Upenn, Columbia, Cornell etc

Transfer to Upenn & Columbia is very competitive so most people will have gpa’s of 3.8-40.0 where as Cornell is slightly more transfer friendly so it might be easier to get in. Overall, to transfer up to very competitive schools like that, you always need 3.8+ gpa to have a decent chance along with great essays/letters of recommendation and a reason for transfer. Your reason would be simple, your school does not offer the major you want.
