How hard will it be for an engineering major to have a GPA of 3.5 or above? Will he have no life and just study and more study?

hmm..I guess pretty hard. engineering is a tough major. but after graduating you usually get paid more than other majors I guess..

You'd have to be genius to have a 3.5 or higher.

what is a respected GPA for an engineering major?

At UIUC, a 3.5 GPA in Engineering would be top 25%, while the average is somewhere around 2.9-3.0.

even if you have a sub 3.0 GPA, would the employers still hire you?

what gpa should i get if i am engineering to transfer to college like uva.. or any college in general

"You'd have to be genius to have a 3.5 or higher."

are u serious?? is that at ALL engineering schools?? ahhh

What if I want to go to medical school after being an engineer? Does that mean that no engineer can ever go to medical school? (You really do need a high GPA)

Boomer01: Each company sets a cutoff GPA, let's say 2.5 or 2.75 or 2.8 or 3.0, and the rest is up to your resume.

Scorp: It would be a terrible idea to do Engineering as a pre-med. You'd probably need to be in the top 20-25% to get a 3.6, which is around the average GPA accepted by med schools. Furthermore, you'll have to take organic chemistry and biology on top of all the Engineering classes. Certainly it can be done, but why start out with the odds stacked up against you?

Engineeering students especially biomed's get into med. schools with lower GPA's and higher acceptences rates then any other major.

so how hard is to be in top 25%? Do the schools limit the amount of A's they give out?

BTW - bigndude, do you have any support for the statement you made?

If I can find it i'll post it up. but its from AAMC data warehouse: applicant matriculant file, as of november 22, 2000.

heh, my physics instructor said she had no life with an engineering major :/

are people taking in account of the curve? there usually is a substantial curve to inflate grades and morale

Most engineering curves deflate grades...

oh...okay...

note to self: i a m s o F U C K E D

lol.. thinking the same thing... oh well. k i have backup major.. i was planning to transfer anyways

transfer major maybe, i heard its really easy to transfer from cornell engineering to any other field/school. the opposite was said to be really hard

At least give it a try, you never know...
