GPA issue?

So i have a 3.3 gpa UW since my school offers no honor or AP classes. I look at the BU website and it says average gpa for admitted BU students is 3.5. I think that I have a good chance of admission, but its general studies program has a average of 3.2.

I will be applying for engineering. Also I have great EC such as discovering engineering problems with a BU professor and a engineering Saturday class at MIT. So do you think I will be accepted to engineering or to their other school?

Also not having taken AP classes because my school doesn’t offer it and I have a pretty good GPA, does that make me more competitive.

THankz in advance!!!

Come back with your SAT scores and the scores of your two subject tests and somebody will let you know.

yeah I dunno man hopefully your test scores help you.

Well just to put it out there, you wouldn't be put into CGS, you'd be placed into SEP (Science and Engineering Program). It's kind of similar to CGS, but you actually would be taking some classes in ENG freshman year.

To get into ENG, you'll have to have some pretty strong SAT/ACT scores, especially in math and science. You're definitely not a more competitive candidate, having not taken any AP classes and having a 3.3

Is a 3.3 considered a bad GPA at the end of you JR year. I mean I do have a semester to improve. But about the SAT's. I have not taken them yet and I also plan on taking the SAT 2 on Chemistry or Physics (depending on which one is easy) and Math 1C. Is this a good game plan for admissions into BU.

Take the ACT instead of the subject tests. It's easier and you're gonna need really great standardized scores.

Did you take the PSAT? If you remember your score, we can give you an idea.

A 3.3 isn't bad, but it wouldn't hurt to try and bring it closer to a 3.5 if you can.

Ha and I suuucked at the Chem SAT2. I didn't take the Physics one though, so I can't tell you how that is.

For ENG, I'd also recommend trying Math 2C instead of 1C. I think that's probably what most ENG applicants take. You'll probably end up needing to take it anyways. I know that I took it because a lot of other engineering colleges actually required that Math 2C be one of the SAT2s you took.

What does the math 2c have on it.
and my PSAT scores were horrible. So im not even going to use it.

Math II is just harder than Math I and encompasses more advanced mathematical concepts and skills. I still suggest you opt to take the ACT in lieu of the subject tests unless ENG specifically requires the subject tests. I found the ACT really easy.

Also, you aren't expected to submit your PSAT score, however, it will give you a good idea of how you can expect to perform on the real SAT. Good luck.

"and my PSAT scores were horrible."

From which you can infer that your SAT scores may be horrible, so I'll spit it out and say you don't have a very strong chance of being accepted.

either majority of those 3.5'ers went to easy schools, or our schools are ridiculous, lol.

i had a 3.0 uw gpa, but a 3.8 w. i had pretty decent SAT scores though, and i got into SMG and loving it! =] don't worry so much, i think you have a pretty good shot with a 3.3 uw! and atm i find alot of those HS overachievers having a difficult time with the coursework, while i find it quite manageable in comparison to high school.
