GPA Lower than the Required TAG GPA

Hey all, this is my first time posting. As of now I’m attending CC and am applying for TAG for UC Davis this fall. I’m applying for Mechanical Engineering which has a minimum required GPA of 3.3 for TAG transfers. As of now, my GPA is at 3.15. My question is, will my TAG be denied due to not meeting the GPA requirement? Will my TAG be approved but my chances may slightly be lower? I’ll have all my classes that are needed for TAG for UCD completed by the end of this Spring.

  • Thank you in advance!

Yes your TAG will be denied since you need to have the required GPA at time of application and you need to maintain that GPA through Spring 2018.

From UC TAG Matrix:::::::::::::::::
GPA requirement must be met by end of summer 2017 and maintained through spring 2018.

@Gumbymom Thanks for the reply. Will I still be able to apply for regular admissions if my TAG is denied?

You should be aware that UC Davis is going to be more difficult than community college. You should try to get your GPA up if you possibly can.

Yes, if rejected from TAG, you roll to regular. But if you don’t qualify, don’t waste your safety net (TAG) on Davis. That’s not efficient.

I’m in the same situation. I decided to play it safe and I TAG’ed to Santa Cruz for bioengineering. I think they also have electrical and robotics, it’s worth checking out.
