GPA problems

Hi, I am in the final semester of my associate degree and I am looking at schools to transfer to but I am having trouble because my gpa is low. However, a few semesters ago I switched my major and I believe that the previous major is hurting my current gpa which is a 2.3, however I have a 2.6 in my current major. My question is will colleges still look at the grades from my old major and count those grades against me or will they look at the grades from my major. Thank you in adavance.

Yes. they will look at your overall course transcript. With the GPA you describe, it would seem to me that you are looking at a local city college. But without knowing where you are located it is hard to gauge if you can get into your state flagship. There may also be some private colleges that will accept you if money is not a major issue.

As @MassDaD68 stated, they will look at your overall transcript which will have classes from your previous major. a 0.3 isn’t that vast of a difference from your old major to your grades in the new major, so it might also be difficult to explain the low gpa because the disparity isn’t that great. If you went from say a 2.3 to a 3.3, that would be easier to explain why your old major was affecting your GPA.
