GPA question: How do you convert from 0-100 scale?

my school does this scale and my weighted GPA is a 103. is that a 4.1?

I graduated in Europe-Serbia with a score of 8.68 (max 10.0). Can somebody help me to convert 8.68 to GPA?
Looking at the available charts on web sites, 8.68 should be equal to B+?!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Above information is needed for postgraduate applications.

Again, THANKS
Jelena

You deffinitely can’t convert a Europe-Serbia scale with an American GPA scale.

I know in many european countries the grading system is very different (getting a 12 or 14 out of 20 in france is great [or something like that…]) I wouldn’t worry to much about only seeing a 86

@International Students: This is America, not a commonwealth or Asian country. The top schools are not using a hard-and-fast formula to determine if they will admit you or not, so stop worrying about what your GPA “would be.” Unless you go to some amazing prep school, where your counselor could easily tell you what kind of local grades you would need for top American schools, the general idea is that you should be earning either the highest (or close to the highest) grades in most of your classes.

First of all, this thread is like 6 years old.

Just no. Please stop. I’m so tired of seeing the dumb ways that people try to convert average to GPA. First of all, if you’re looking to apply to colleges from somewhere that doesn’t have a GPA–most colleges will straight-up tell you not to convert your grades by yourself. If you’re applying to a national university, they should be familiar with your country/school’s grading scale or could figure it out from your school profile.

Your average grade is calculated by the formula (x1+x2+x3+x4+…+xn)/n, n=number of grades.

GPA is calculated by (GP1+GP2+GP3+GP4+…+GPn)/n, GP=grade points. With very few exceptions, grade points are determined by a scale for each class (like 90-100=A=4.0) such that all points between the lower and upper bound yield the same number of grade points.

There is no constant C such that C(Average Grade)=GPA that holds true for all cases.

What you HAVE to do, if you insist on converting (which, again, is probably not necessary), is determine the grade points for each class. However, you’re still left with the difficulty of whether or not to use pluses or minus. The most come scales are A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, D=1.0, F=0.0; and A+=4.0, A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, B=3.0, B-=2.7, C+=2.3, C=2.0, C-=1.7, D+=1.3, D=1.0, F=0.0.

And if you were to be somewhere that assign numerical grades, but the school doesn’t correlate those numerical grades with letter grades, you wouldn’t have a GPA.

(GPA x 12.5) + 50 = Grade

(Grade - 50) / 12.5 = GPA

i.e.
(3.6 x 12.5) + 50 = 95

(95 - 50) / 12.5 = 3.6

Remember F = Grade 50, D = GPA 1

50 / 4 = 12.5

A 95 is not a 3.6. Since misinformed people keep bumping this thread with inaccurate info, can we lock this thread?

Agreed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many wrong answers on one thread.

^^ I second this notion.

You all are all WRONG LOL to figure out your GPA in a 4 point system there is a formula which you all should of learned in school You take your GPA/20 then subtract 1 that will give you your GPA in a 4 point system

Do you want a gold star or something? Try checking the original date of the thread before responding next time, this thread is almost a decade old.

Edit: It would probably be a good idea if a moderator could lock down this thread so it doesn’t get revived over and over and over again.
