GPA Question

Hi,
I am looking to transfer to an american university after my freshman year at a Canadian university and was wondering how my high school gpa is looked at.

Normally in Canada, universities will base their admission decision solely on the students grade 12 marks.
So my question is:

Do american univerisities look at the marks for all four years of highschool (for canadian students), or do they look specifically at grade 11 and 12. If they do look at all four years, will a lot of weight be put on grade 9 and 10 marks, or will the majority if not all the weight be put on the last two years of marks.

Thanks!

Varies by school.

Some look at all available grades (generally 9th to 11th at the time of application). Some schools look at just 10th and 11th for computing their standardized GPA (California state schools). Some schools disregard GPA completely and look at rank in class instead (Texas state schools).
