Hello everybody! I have a question here. I go to a community college in New York (LaGuardia Community College). I have transferred several subjects from my old College in Montenegro. One of them is accepted as "Physic Science" and graded with C. This subject has nothing to do with my Major, which is electrical engineering, since I took and passed General Physics 1, and taking General Physics 2 this spring. Yet, this "Physics Science" course still remains in my GPA, lowering it.

My question is: Is there a way to take this irrelevant subject out from my GPA list?
Any help appreciated.

Only your own college can tell you this, but no, most colleges won’t just erase courses from your transcript because you don’t like the grade. Some colleges have a grade forgiveness policy that allows students to re-take a class and replace the old grade with the new one, but you’d have to check with your own college on whether that’s an option for you.

Do ask at LaGuardia about how they record transferred credits, and whether or not those credits are factored into your GPA. Each institution sets its own policy about this. Sometimes the course equivalent and the grade appear on the transcript, but don’t factor into the GPA. Sometimes it is possible to ask to remove a transferred course from your transcript if it is not needed for your degree program. Not all places will let you do that. Pay a visit to the Registrar’s Office, and find out what your options are.

In any case, when you transfer to your 4-year institution after finishing up at LaGuardia, you will need to send your transcript from your first college as well as the new one from LaGuardia. The transfer institution will re-calculate your overall GPA according to their own policies.
