My GPA used to be a 4.0, but this past 4th quarter, my music teacher gave me a B- in an after school music choir that no one knew was still going on (so no one showed up). I still got A's in all my academic classes, but this (combined qith a B- as the final exam grade in that class for some reason) brought my overall junior year GPA down to 3.84 something. My question is, will this have any effect on top colleges' decisions if they see that this is an after school non-academic class that isn't of much importance?

Well, good luck trying to justify choir as an extracurricular activity then.

I dont think you have much to worry about. They'll see that B- and all you'll need to do is get your guidance counselor to explain that in her letter of recommendation.

GPA's dont quite matter for the most part, as long as they're consistent. Sure, the colleges are going to see that, but I doubt that they'd use that to be their reason for not accepting you.

I dont quite understand how you're graded on an after school class... but maybe it works differently for your high school.

It'll be best to speak to your counselor about it because she'd know more and will be able to warn you about the things you should be worried about. This might possibly not be one of them.

I still went to it for the past two years and got A's in it every other quarter, it's just this one. I don't understand why we're graded on afterschool stuff either. I wouldn't mind it except for the fact that we're given exam grades, even though there aren't exams. It's just whatever the teacher feels like giving us.

geez...your gpa went down that much because of one quarter and a final in one class...that kinda sucks
