My friend works in the Admissions Office at Vanderbilt and she told me that they have a point system to recalculate GPA. Is this true? If so, what's this system so that I can recalculate my GPA.

On a tour/information session, they told me that they use whichever GPA that your school sends. Apparently their conversion allows them to convert weighted and unweighted alike.

I have no idea what system they use, however.

Yes, I know they do have some kind of converting system. And I'm almost positive they said they only calculate academic courses for your weighted GPA [as in, they don't count band, driver's ed, non-AP art, etc], which makes your weighted GPA higher than what it is at your school.

Time to set the record straight here. We use the GPA that your school provides. Since we get thousands of applications from around the world, it is the most equitable way to evaluate student academic performance. Keep in mind we only look at one high school at a time. That way the weighted 5.23 from one school isn't directly compared with the unweighted 3.7 from another.
