GPA Question

I'm almost sure I know the answer, and I am sure that this has already been asked, but I couldn't locate it and figure it will take someone a minute to answer[and make me feel slightly better].

I've taken classes[undergrad] at several schools. Although some of them appear on my current transcript[not all of them do as they didn't transfer], they are not factored into my undergrad GPA. When graduate schools look at my application, will they use the GPA from my current school, or do they calculate the overall GPA based on everyone I have been? Are they given different weights[in the application]?

Thanks.

Most schools will glance at your transcripts and compare them to the listed gpa - if they see any discrepancies they will calculate on their own, including any and all classes from all schools they can see, all weighted the same. Some schools (MIT EECS for example) do this preemptively, doing the calculation automatically and then checking your honesty with your stated gpa.

If you contact the departments, they will sometimes accept a petition to disregard certain grades if there is a persuasive argument.

Thanks for the reply.
