So I have a 94 GPA with the hardest courses that my school has to offer (aside from spanish) and I'm just wondering what my gpa on a 4.0 scale would be. I've done various calculations with different methods..... one way I get 3.76 (94/25).... one way i get about a 3.9 on one scale (95-100 is A) and then 4.0 on another (94 or 93-100). My question is which one is it???

heres how I do it.

A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1
F=0

Consider all these numbers as points. If you have 25 classes, and say 20 are A’s, then do 20*4 (because an A=4), so thats 80 points right? Add up the rest of your points. When you have all your points totaled, divide that by 25, which is your UW gpa.

For example, I have taken 24 classes so far (im a rising senior). I have 2 B’s and the rest are A’s. That means 224 + 23 = 94. So by dividing 94 by 24 I get my average score, which is 3.92 and that is my UW gpa. If you still need help PM me

Jstar1 - How do you differentiate between letter grade modifiers? (i.e. A-, B+, etc?)

my high school makes no difference between A or A-

I dont know how it is at others high schools

Have you asked your school if they have a formula for calculating GPA? Have you looked at the school profile? My D’s school recently changed from a 4.0 scale to a 100% scale for her graduating class, and we have struggled with the same question. The school seems unwilling to provide a formula, but they do provide a “grade table” on the school profile (e.g. 93-100 = A = 4.00, 90-92 - A- = 3.75, etc). I believe D’s school expects that one will average the grades and then look it up on the scale, so 94 = A = 4.00. It is not obvious to me that colleges will do so.

Good luck!
