Gpa question

hey guys i'm new and i have a question about gpa. Currently in have a gpa of 2.3 and i want to get it up to a 3.0 minimum. If i take lets say an art class over the summer and finish with an A i think on a scale is 4.0? or something like that. Will it redo the average of my gpa and bring it up?

Find a GPA calculator online and punch in the numbers (it can be done by hand, too, but it sounds like you are a bit confused how to do it).

Basically, every “A” you get will pull up your GPA a little bit more. How much each additional “A” pulls up your grade depends on how many credits you already have.

For ex: If you have taken just 4 (4 cred. each) classes total with a 2.3 average, a single “A” pulls it up the overall GPA to a 2.64.

If you have taken 8 (4 cred. each) classes total with a 2.3 average, a single “A” pulls up the overall GPA only to a 2.57.

Etc.

So - I am going to assume you have done at least 8 classes (4 cred each) – which means a single “A” won’t be enough to pull your GPA to a 3.0 – so either find an online GPA calculator or visit your friendly college counselor for help to calculate this out.

Good luck.
