i was wondering if there was any way to boost your gpa

i see people with like 4.8's and i dont see how this is possible becuase in many schools you cant take any honors or ap's freshmen year, so that already puts you at a disadvantage.

so does anyone know any tips or tricks to boost your gpa, i have like a 4.5, and im trying too see if there anyway to get it to like a 4.7 or 4.8

well, gpa's are weighted differently from school to school. for example, at my school if you get and A in an unleveled class, it's a 4.0, but if you get an A in and AP class you add it's a 5.1 that gets factored into your gpa.

At my school you can take Pre-Ap (honors) classes in freshman year. I don't know of many schools that restrict honors classes during freshman year...

Well obviously, what you need to do depends on your particular schools system. If AP/Honors classes will get you a higher GPA for the same grade (and if your able to get those grades) then the solution is to take as many of those as you can.

Keep in mind, those super high GPA's could come from a school where an A in an AP class equals a 6.0, while in ypour school the max might be 4.5 or 5.0. So i'd think the important thing would be unweighted GPA and rank, because of the fact that each school could come up with its own messed up system for weighting grades.

On a side note, I wouldn't get too discouraged by even the unweighterd 4.0s you see. Even there a school's systems could affect that. For example in my school, the system is more finely graded, going 4.0, 3.8, 3.6, etc. and a 97 and above is a 4.0, but in many other systems the intervals are more like, 4.0, 3.5, 3.0, and any A is a a 4.0.
