GPA questions

hey how's it going guys..

Schools applying to:UCLA, UCI, UCR
Major:Japanese

As of right now i have a 3.54 at the CCC i'm going to, however I went to a CCC before this one and I had a 1.78 because i was just messing around and wasn't serious about school. Are the UC's going to average out my GPAs or keep them seperate and take note of the fact that since my transition from my first community college (which i didnt bring any grades from), to my new community college (which i will have earned all of my units for IGETC and my major prereqs) that I have gotten all A's and B's?

If they are going to average the GPA's out should i transfer credits from my new community college back to my old community college and try to get line-outs on the grades i have there so they don't affect the GPA anymore?

I feel that with my current standing at my CCC I have sufficient grades and EC's to get all of those schools with my major, however I'm uncertain about it when my previous grades come to mind.

thanks [;

don't even mention that you went to another CCC.

^ they want you to report all the community colleges you have attended I still think you have a godo chance with your major telling them in the personal statement how you made a big change...b/c if they find out, i don't think they want you b/c you were dishonest.

the person said he's taken all of his IGETC and major pre-reqs in the second community college, which means he's taken no relevant courses in the first cc. he doesnt have to report his previous cc grades, espeically when it won't buy any suspicion from the adcom.

Yes he does, you are required to report ALL college units, regardless of when, or where, they were taken.

Chances are they will never found out that you ever attended another CC but if you get picked for a random check and they find out that you lied, you will have your application red flagged. After that good luck trying to ever get into a California public university. I would say just submit everything, you still would have a good chance at all those schools. The UC's are very forgiving when it comes to grade trends just explain your situation in your personal statement.

Just wondering since it's somewhat related, i read that if you apply for financial aid for sure they know what colleges you have been to? is this true?

If you have applied for financial aid before transferring they will have access to the schools you have attended I believe.

Just report it and explain in your essay

I've heard they randomly audit approximately 10% of all the applications, verifying the information submitted.

i search about the whole audit deal and found another CC forum thread

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=400483

So basically what that says is that if you do get audited they are just verifying the information you submitted? In Part 4 of the academic history section it asks for gaps in education so basically I'd have to lie and say i didn't go to school? Or is there something else i could put in there..

5-10% seems like a pretty big gamble :

I'm pretty sure I decided to tell the truth about my previous grades even though they have no relevance to any credits that I am using for my IGETC or major pre-reqs, but I'm really torn so who knows what will happen..going to talk to my counselor and get his opinion.

I had a random question about the statistics of people admitted to UCLA, the number of units they list on their site is in Quarterly Units right? I don't see any under 90 which would be 60 semester units so i figure thats what it is, just wondering O:
