<p>Which is more important? GPA or Class Rank?</p>
<p>Probably class rank- if you go to a super competitive school and have a 3.5 and are number 1, then that would just speak to how difficult your school is.</p>
<p>GPA matters in context with your school and your class- class rank allows them to judge that. So class rank puts your GPA in context- a GPA without any knowledge of the school (for schools without class rank) or class rank would be kind of useless.</p>
<p>Both should be very important...they are interrelated. But I'd agree rank is more important because it puts your GPA in perspective.</p>
<p>Sorry to be controversial, but, in most cases this year, GPA trumped rank for admissions...in addition, there is another thread where a poster cited a recent survey which stated that class rank is below GPA and rigor of classes in importance for admissions.......</p>
