GPA+rank

For my school, our grades go from 0% - 100%. On the common app, it asks for cumulative GPA...what exactly does that mean? I'm assuming it means the average of all the courses you've taken since gr9?

As well, for rank, I asked my guidance counselor, and we figured out that I was nth highest person out of 385 (from last year's final mark only). So should I just select "exact" for class rank reporting, and then type 4? Or would that mean that i'm within top 4% (because i'm actually about top 1%). What does the "exact" class rank reporting mean?

Thanks for the help!

Exact would be like you said, 4/385. Some schools dont rank, or only do ranges (i.e. tell you you are top 10%, not the actual number). You should select exact, then type in 4 and 385 for your class size.

Cumulative GPA is all of your classes since 9th grade, yes.

Oh ok. Thanks! Because I was scared that if i typed 4 in “exact”, they would think I was top 4%, which isn’t true. Do you ahve any links from the common app site though, that might back this up?
