GPA ranking

Is there a ranking of which school is the most competitive? I mean in terms of academics, GPA. basically a list of the top schools in which it's hardest to get a high GPA.

Not that I am aware of. The inverse of this is schools that have grade inflation and there are lots of threads and articles about those...and some of them are controversial. A lot of this discussion is anecdotal. I hear things all the time about this or that school and either how hard it is to get an "A" and others where how easy it is to get "A's". Another thread had some list about grade efficiency and difficulty, but from what I could see it didnt comport with what I know about those schools. The best thing to do is go to the schools you are applying to and ask the students themselves.

I know some state schools give out AP credit and honors credit like candy and kids are starting as "sophomore standing" from the outset. To me that speaks volumes about their lack of difficulty at that school. Its a gimmick to get kids in the door as well.

I told my kid to load up on AP classes in high school NOT for college credit, but for college preparation.

But yes, there are schools out there who are very difficult to get into....very selective admissions criteria but are really just country clubs once you get there. I have my own opinion as to who they are and since its subjective I wont post their names here.

I know schools where the profs tell the freshmen, "no A's for freshmen." And where outstanding work gets you a "B." Good work a "C" and everyone else fails.

Yea, most talk about inflation and deflation. higher the inflation the more likely you are to get an A in the class.

i know the princeton review has all kinds of rankings, including most competetive students and students never stop studying. that might give a general idea

where is that list of grade deflation at various colleges?
