GPA Recalculation by College

I struggled in my music class I got a B freshman year and then the next year I got a C average for the year.

I am maintaining a 4.4 GPA because my school doesnt count electives towards the GPA.

Do colleges count electives when they recalculate GPA?

Can you give some example colleges?

Some colleges do and some don’t. And to make things even muddier, some colleges only count certain electives towards your recalculated GPA. I know that my state school recalculates GPA and only counts the courses they require for admission (which includes a few electives) in their GPA recalculation. These electives include Foreign Language (2 credits), Fine Art (1 credit), PE/JROTC (1 credit), and an Academic Elective which is just about any extra class that you don’t really need (1 credit). I would check with the colleges you’re interested in to see.

I’m interested in this thread because I’d never really thought about GPA recalculation. Likewise, do many/most colleges include electives or omit them in GPA recalculation? It’s the other way around for me; A+s in gym (which is mostly participation) and health (which was required for graduation, but wasn’t very hard) boost my GPA.
