I heard that Yale does not perform GPA recalculations. I am a freshman (going to be a sophomore next year) and am interested in how Yale University looks at GPAs in their admissions process. Do they disregard freshman grades or not?

They don't disregard freshman grades.

Nobody really knows if they count freshmen year. They have said they dont weight it as much, but that is all.

And noone really knows if they recalculate the GPA's.

thepapercrane, e-mail the Yale admissions office for an answer to your question. My understanding is that Yale does not "re-calculate" the GPA as the UC's or UMich do. Freshman grades are considered in context.

haha, they'd think that I was a freak, e-mailing the admissions office as a HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN ... :-P
