Quick question: On ASSIST, it says “Candidates must complete courses comparable to the following UC Davis courses with a GPA of at least 2.90 for the course group”. I’m trying to apply as a psychology major to UC Davis. However, under ASSIST, I realize that statistic is the only course in its own course group. I earned a C in stats at my community college which obviously is not a 2.90.
Does this mean I am ineligible to apply for Davis and will automatically get rejected as I did not meet the requirement?
How I read the information from the UC Davis website is that you have to have an overall GPA of 2.90 for the following courses:
-Psychology 1
-Statistics 13
-One of these two options:
Biological Sciences 2A OR
_Biological Sciences 10 AND ONE course from:
Anthropology 1 OR
Molecular and Cellular Biology 10 OR
Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior 10
So you need a 2.90 GPA for the 4 courses: Psychology 1, Statistics 13, one of the Biological science courses and one of the Anthropology/Mol & Cell Bio or Neurobio/Physio course.
If you are unsure, call UCD admissions.
From the UC Davis website:::::::::
Psychology
-You must earn an overall transfer GPA of 2.80 or higher to be a competitive candidate for admission. Strive to achieve your highest possible GPA in order to be most competitive. Candidates must complete courses comparable to the following UC Davis courses with a GPA of at least 2.90 for the course group. It is recommended that candidates have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.90 for the group of courses below that have been completed at the time of application and through the transfer academic update filing period. Whether planning for the general application or TAG process, courses must be taken for a letter grade, with no grade less than C (Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher Level examinations may satisfy UC Davis course equivalents.
Although only one biological sciences course is required for admission, students interested in pursuing a B.S. degree with emphasis in biology are encouraged to complete the recommended courses shown on ASSIST.

@Gumbymom Is it 2.90 overall for all those courses or 2.90 GPA in each of those courses?
I read it as 2.90 overall for those courses.
Call UCD admissions for confirmation.
