GPA to get into Nursing?

This is for my sister, so I don't have much info other than what she's told me and seen. Currently she's a junior.

She has a 92 GPA and Plans on taking AP Bio and AP Stats in her Senior Year of HS.

What are her best chances of getting in and what tips are best for her to get in?

Anyone knows whether emory looks at race and background?

Emory’s School of Nursing does not accept students directly from high school. While Emory does consider race and background, if she has a 92 GPA and only plans to take 2 AP classes in high school, she’s probably not competitive for Emory. (Of course, she could be if her school does not offer many APs and all other factors, such as ECs and SAT, are great).

However, depending on her ACT/SAT score, she might be competitive for Oxford College of Emory University. She could attend Oxford–or any other college or university–for two years, taking the prerequisite course, and then apply to Emory’s School of Nursing. (More About Oxford: [Oxford College - Home](http://oxford.emory.edu/;) CC Oxford Thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/emory-university/1061698-oxford-thread-questions-conversation-11.html</a>)

Has more APs under her belt like US history but the others I’m not sure. I think her school offers AP Econ but thats about all I know.

I think the 92 (A-, and the Emory average is like 3.7-3.9ish) is fine, but the two APs is not considering that the average amount of APs for Emory students is about 5 (that isn’t considering stuff like joint enrollment and distance learning w/various universities). I honestly don’t even think 5 is a safe number (more like 6-7). They would probably consider your sister if only a very limited number of APs are offered at her school. However, if many are offered, and she only has two, that could be cumbersome, but as the poster above implies, she has a solid chance at Oxford, though I’d recommend just doing the dual application to see what happens (it’s no additional cost).

what is the usual gpa needed to get into the nursing school 2nd year? do they accept ap chem score as a exemption from chem 141?
