How exactly does the University take a US GPA? Are -'s and +'s considered, or just the letter itself?

Well, I'm in Ontario, and they take into consideration our average, since we don't have a GPA. The US GPA system is more generous than the Canadian percentage system.

Here are the conversions from letter grades to percentages:

A++ (yes that exists..)= 98%
A+ = 94%
A = 90%
A- = 86%
A-- (yup, that exists too...) = 82%
B+ = 79%
B = 76%
B- = 72%
C+ = 69%
C = 66%
C- = 62%
D+ = 59%
D = 54%
D- = 52%
R (fail) = 50%>

Obviously, A's are considered to be above the provincial norm, and B's are average. Most 'smart' students have averages somewhere over 85%, but the so-called geniuses have averages above 90%. Averages with students tend to rise in higher grades as annoying requirements that sometimes bring down averages are already completed, thus giving the student the opportunity to take only the courses he or she is good at, or wants to take.
