Hey, everybody. I wanted to ask: how much do you think GPA matters to Cornell? I know there isn't really a definite answer to this question, but from what you've seen in past years - is a 'meh' GPA bound to disqualify you if you have good SAT/SAT II scores, strong extracurriculars, and a good essay? Or would those things all serve to make up for a less-than-stellar GPA?

Building off of that: from what you've seen, do you think Cornell might be a little more holistic than other top-ranked universities - Harvard, Princeton, Yale, the University of Chicago, MIT, etc...?

Thanks, and good luck!

Bump! Does anyone have an idea?

I received a likely letter for the class of 2018. 3.69 GPA. 2290 SAT. Good ECs. Good Essays. URM. I think everything else manage to overcome my low GPA. Also, I had a rigorous schedule.

@FLstudent2014 - Thanks!! I haven’t received a likely letter, but your post gives me some hope 3.7 UW GPA, 2290 SAT, ECs and essay are pretty good, 6 APs senior year, and tough schedules frosh/soph/junior years…

I’m not an URM, though (Asian kid) - dunno how much that matters…

@jackson61. Wow we have very similar stats (3.7, 2290, 6 AP’s senior year). But yeah, you’re in a slightly worse position for being Asian (sorry).

@FLstudent2014 Curse my Indian-ness! :P

Nah, seriously though, congratulations! Cornell is great!
