Hi there, I'm a community college student looking to transfer to a University next fall semester. I was wondering would my GPA stay the same when I transfer to the Uni or would it reset when entering the new school?

You start with a fresh GPA when you transfer to another school. The good thing with that is if someone really does bad their first year, transfers out, and does well their remaining 3 years, employers would see the latter GPA (I’m assuming you’d only have to put information from the school you graduated from).

Thanks a lot for the answer! I just gotta work hard from this point on. =]

It depends on the school. UIUC will list an Overall GPA and a UIUC-only GPA on the transcript.

If you apply to grad schools, though, they’ll need to see your transcripts from your previous school, and may include that GPA in their overall GPA calculations.
