From what I'm hearing, UMich gets rid of Freshman grades and only counts Letters, no +/-'s? If thats true, that really screws my GPA over and I definitely don't have a chance of getting in. Each yr I've had about 4 B+'s and 2 A's...after 1st 3 yrs I have a 3.6 UW GPA, but with Michigan GPA system I have about a 3.2-3.3. Why don't they base your GPA on how each individual's school does it. I really think this is unfair...

Because some schools base their GPAs out of different scales and weight APs and honors more than other schools. My school is on a 4.6 scale with a full letter grade boost for advanced classes. Some of my friends schools have GPAs out of 100 (like a 97 would be a GPA in their school) So they have to recalculate it no matter what because it wouldn't be fair if they didnt.

parikhs - I feel your pain. I am in the EXACT situation you are in. I had 4 B+'s last semester, and 3 were in AP/AC classes. So those are being counted as A-'s in my actual GPA, but in the Michigan GPA, they are being counted as B's.

And I feel that this GPA dilemma will get me rejected from the university. I have a solid GPA (UW 3.6), but the +/- situation is stupid, and shouldn't be a factor. It's not my fault teachers won't boost to an A-.
