Does anyone else def. not have a perfect GPA or am I the only one?

define "imperfect". mine's nothing special, 3.8

Same, unweighted.

My school's gpa system is crazy - it's on a 4.33 scale unweighted, and they don't ever weight your grades. How do you guys calculate your gpa?

My weighted GPA is 4.2, but my unweighted is much less than stellar, it is about a 3.7.

heyy how can i calculate my GPA being an international student

hey.. how would you weight your GPA?
my school weights, but theres a cap b/c all stats are sent to UCs (if you're applying)- so some honors are not counted and only soph and junior years counts
And.. Zldj- you're definitely not the only one- I have an extremely low GPA for columbia applicants (3.42 unweighted from soph and junior year- messed up soph year)
But it seems as though everyone here has a 4.0 or above GPA

Yeah, I got my 92.075 UW...abysmal freshman grades.

You guys really need to stop posting 3.7 gpa's and saying how bad that is...

Actually, I don't know of any of the ED acceptees posting 4.0s (Unweighted, I mean. Very few colleges consider weighted GPAs, and definitely not Columbia). Mine was 3.65 ~ 3.70 UW, and 4.1ish weighted...I can never remember exactly what. GPA is by far the most variable of all the paramaters of college applications - both the school you go to and the courses you sign up for make an enormous difference. I got in, so you definitely don't need a 4.0. I think it's more important that you've willingly signed yourself up for a riguorous courseload during high school than you've gotten all A's.

That is reassuring. My gpa is about a 3.6-3.7 unweighted with the almost hardest course load possible at my hs, which I would assume is at least somewhat decent.

It's tough to read some of these chances posts and see all of these kids with 4.0 uw gpas. Makes me wonder why I bothered to apply.

Ignore those posts... Many people with 4.0 gpa's are actually defered. Just remember its the whole package.

my GPA's nowhere near 4.0, and has never been anywhere near it. then again my GPA's largely dragged down by ESL classes in the first and second year or my high school (and the horrible grades in IB classes)
my point- GPA is only a measure of your abilities when taken in context of courses which is what the adcom does. a 4.0 in one school is hard to compare with a 4.8 in another school.

that and GPA is only one part of the application.

i think i have a 3.92.

damn math classes.

just checking- but are unweighted gpas comprised of fresh, soph, junior, and 1st semester senior yr grades?
are will they simply take the gpas that your hs gives them (my school's system is a little weird)

What was yours, lynda? If it was 3.5 or higher, I will wring your neck.

my gpa's 3.78, but from a very difficult private school
