Hi guys!

I am an international student and at my school the gpa is this:

96-100 4.00
94-95 3.67
92-93 3.33
86-91 3.00
84-85 2.67
82-83 2.33
76-81 2.00

I lived in Florida before I left and the gpa scale is a lot harder than most schools I know.

My question is...when applying to college, do they look at the gpa my school gave me or do they convert it to their own scale? Like the american scale?

Depends on the school. Most schools will have their only way of calculations. Some school don’t consider subgrades (i.e. B+/B/B- are all the same as 3.0). Some schools only consider sophomore and junior classes.

This issue is not worth your worry.

Some colleges and universities do indeed recalculate applicants grade-point averages using their own method. Others do not. But the universities and colleges that don’t recalculate have plenty of practice looking at your grades in the context of your school. When your school sends your Secondary School Report and transcript, the also send a school profile that explains your school’s grading scale, and also gives some information about distribution of grades within your school.
