I go to a school in Ontario, Canada. How can I find the GPA which universities in US use (such as the one they have in their common data set).

Also, according to what I have seen, a 3.0 GPA is equivalent to 80%. Why is that considered bad?

Because for most top US schools, you need a 3.8+ to have a chance.

I am not too informed about the system, but I find it hard to believe that so many US students have an almost all 90%+.

Our schools, from what I’ve heard, are easier than a lot of other countries’. Wasn’t hard for me to get all 90%+ at my public school.

Ontario, CA uses a different grading system than typical US schools. According to the calculator at <a href=“GPA Calculator”>http://www.foreigncredits.com/Resources/GPA-Calculator/Canada, 80% in Ontario converts to an A under the US grading system. It’s my understanding that 80% means well above average in most Ontario HSs, while at many US HSs the majority get grades of >90%, and very few get grades of 80% or lower. There are different grade expectations for students who attend HSs in countries with different grading.

But do US universities recalculate it?
