GPA

On my transcript ,it only has my weighted GPA . But you guys on CC are always talking about the unweighted GPA . I called Cornell college of arts and sciences undergraduate admission , and the lady said that they only look at the GPA that the school puts on your transcript .I asked her if they recalculated the transcript to find the unweighted GPA , or if the recalculate the GPA in any other way . She responded simply saying no , and that they have thousands of applicants , so there is no time to recalculate things on one applicants transcript .Also , she said that the first transcript that the college sees from the applicant has their first semester 12 grade scores on it . So is she telling the truth ? lol Another question , is Cornell college of Arts and sciences the easiest to get into , because it has the largest accepted number .

I can’t answer all of your questions, but I would defer to the response from an actual admissions officer at the College over anyone who posts anonymously on the Internet. The College of Arts & Sciences might be the largest undergraduate division at Cornell, which would explain the number of acceptances (that is true at most universities). The School of Agriculture was traditionally the least selective, but that might have changed.

^ I agree with the above. While its strange that your transcript doesn’t have the UW GPA, most schools do, it sounds like Cornell would just be one of those schools that looks at you in the context of your school and will probably look at the actual letter grades in your courses for admissions purposes. Of course, most schools send out a school report, talking about how they calculate grades and whatnot, but generally I’d take the adcom’s word for it. At many other schools, they don’t recaclulate GPA, like W&M for instance. They will only take into account first semester grades if you apply RD and not ED/EA, otherwise they will just receive a report on it later on.
