<p>When UCs give the “Average High School GPA” of their applicant pool, are they referring to their total HS GPAs or their UC GPAs?</p>
<p>Depends upon where you are looking. The UC admissions website lists the Freshman Profile stats for last years in-coming classs and the GPA listed is the UC GPA. If you look at the common datasets for each school, average GPA listed is unweighted. UCLA and UCB websites also give a breakout with weighted and unweighted GPA. If the average GPA is 4.0+, then it is the UC GPA. For the UC’s, the GPA would also reflect the grades from the a-g required courses.</p>
