i have about a 3.45 unweighted gpa and i 4.0 weighted, i know its nothing spectacular, but when i google a college to see their average gpa i dont know if they mean weighted or unweighted, i have heard different answers from different people what is the actual answer?
On the common dataset for each school, it usually states if they are using a 4.0 scale meaning unweighted or another scale. Unless the school specifically states the posted GPA is weighted and they give you the exact weighting scale, assume it is Unweighted.
i also have good ec’s and an 1160 on the psat will i be competitive and mid to high level colleges
If you are talking about the UC’s, here are the SAT/AC T 25th to 75th percentile for the admitted students for each campus. UC’s tend to be more GPA focused than test score focused but to be competitive you need the whole package: High GPA, High Test scores, Good HS course rigor, Outstanding personal insight essays and EC’s which show passion and leadership.
Below are some UC statistical data based on UC GPA capped weighted and test scores. None of this data is major specific and your intended major can be a huge determining factor in your acceptance.
UC GPA calculator only uses 10-11th grades and will give extra honors points for UC approved Honors courses (California resident only), AP, IB or Dual Enrollment classes. Capped weighted UC GPA is capped at 8 semesters of Honors points for these courses.
