Hey I was just wondering if someone could help tell me what my GPA would be if I got all A's throughout high school except a year of B's in Algebra I? (I know if I'm getting all A's I should know how to do this but I can't figure it out).
Thanks a ton =)

Your cumlative GPA will be

3.9583

Woah, how'd you figure that out?
Thanks =)
Now all I have to do is get all A's in every single class...
eeks.

Actually, Parent, GPA differs from school to school. A 4.0 at my school would not be tha same as a 4.0 at a school in, say, Oregon. Talk to your guidance counselor.

What do you mean 4.0 is different?

snoopyiscool: An A on a 4.0 scale is 4.0.

That is the standard and there is no change anywhere in this world. All Universities calculating GPA on a 4.0 scale will calculate

A- 4.0
B - 3.0
C - 2.0
D - 1.0

Please brush up before misguiding anyone.

IvyHope is right, most colleges recalculate GPA using the scale he/she just put up.

That's what I thought, or else every college everywhere would be crazy around trying to convert GPAs for different high schools.
Thanks =)

Does anyone think I have a shot at getting all A's in every single class of high school til I graduate?
Seems basically impossible.
I took Algebra I Honors this year (8th grade, early to be on CC I know) and got B's for every quarter so far, and probably will the fouth/last quarter too.
I really want to get into a top school, not HYP or anything like that, but pretty close.

Any more advice?

Um, colleges defiantly don't look at 8th grade grades... do your GPA doesn't even matter at this juncture...

Before attacking me, know my reasoning. The OP asked for GPA, not a converted-to-college GPA. Now then, an A at my school, in GPA format, would most likely be calculated differently than an A at a school in another district. Grading scales in high school are not universal.

And why are you worrying? 8th grade is not the time to stress about GPA.

"Um, colleges defiantly don't look at 8th grade grades... do your GPA doesn't even matter at this juncture..."

The class I took was a high school course, for high school credit, that counts towards my high school gpa though.

"And why are you worrying? 8th grade is not the time to stress about GPA."

Haha, I know =) but seriously, if I didn't think about any of this college stuff now, I would seriously just get c's and d's throughout high school. I need serious motivation to do any kind of work so this is where I'm coming to get it.

Lol, in Oregon we have the standard 4.0 scale, and everybody's GPA is unweighted....way tohate on us...too bad we rock the BOAT, ROCK THE BOAT!!!!!!!!

A grades are worth 4 points
B grades are worth 3 points
C grades are worth 2 points

Econ 1--> 3 units x A = 12
Econ 3--> 3 units x B = 9
Calc I --> 4 units x B = 12
Calc II--> 4 Units x A = 16

Total Units: 14
Total Points 49

Points/Units = GPA
49/14= 3.5

I think I understand what snoopyiscool meant, for instance my school used to do 95-100 is 4.0 but now we do it on a 100 pt scale

okayyyyyyy

OK, colleges recalculate the GPA to come up with an unweighted GPA - I got that but, what do they do about the +'s and -'s? Is an A+, an A, or an A- all the same? all a 4?
So, if all my grades but one were some variation on A (B+ in AP English Lit), would my GPA be a 3.9??
Thanks

cmon - anyone?

they don't care about minuses or pluses

well, colleges recalculate gpas, but high school gpas vary depending on the high school.

my high school takes into acount minuses and pluses, but some don't. An A+ in my high school is a 4.33, A is a 4.00, and an A- is a 3.77. And in my high school, honors courses are weighted by .33 and APs are weighted by .43.
but at my friends high school, they don't take in minuses or pluses, honors courses are weighted .50, and AP courses are weighted 1.00.
