.........gpa..........

what's considered a "good" GPA?

generally 3.8 or above, unweighted.

A 3.6 at one of the top 30 private schools in America is a huge accomplishment, but a 3.9 at a non-competitive public school with rampant grade inflation might not be impressive. Your gpa is also placed in the context of the courseload you chose. The kid who took BC Calc, AP Chem, and AP Physics will have a lower gpa than the kid who took Creative Writing, Drama, and Algebra 2.

a note: regardless of your courses or the school you attend, try to maintain at least a 3.5 which shows you received 50% A's and 50% B's

: ), that's by CC standards, and it also depends on your school. A 3.7 at my school in a 93/94 average. I'd say a 3.2+ coming from my personal school.

I'm the number 1 student in my freshman class with a 3.95.
the nearest GPA to me, from asking around, was a 3.89.
But in general, try to be 3.8 or above.

On my school's unweighted scale, I'd consider a 3.5 out of 4.33 pretty good.

On a 4.0 scale, I'd consider a 3.4 to be pretty good.

At my school, we are so competitive that th max GPA is now a 6.67 weighted...ridic, i know. Anyway, the highest GPA unweighted I can recall was maybe a 3.95 unweighted, with our val last year having around a 3.9 UW and 5.7 weighted.

Uncompetitive public HS ftw!

At my school 3.7 is pretty much the cutoff for being considered smart. Also that 3.7 must go along with Enriched and later AP classes
