Gpa

i have the PR book of the top 351 colleges and it says that BU’s average GPA for the entering class is 3.5? The book is like a year old and i wanted to know if that still held true. If not, what is the current avg GPA?

From the admissions website:

Q: What is the average high school grade point average (GPA) for incoming freshmen?
A: 3.60, just below an A- average in a competitive high school with a challenging curriculum.

<a href="http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/faqanswers.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/faqanswers.html</a></p>

Granted, this number is meaningless since every high school is so different.

At orientation, the deans and all that spoke to us and said that we are the best entering class at BU. Our average SAT score is 1310 and our average GPA is either 3.6 or 3.7. So I'm sure the book changed a little concerning stats...I have the same book.

It seems like BU is slipping academically. Last year the PR gave them an academic score of 89/100 but this year it is 81/100. :(

Eh...I wouldn't worry too much about what the rankings say.

1) In general, no one cares about them aside from the students/parents who buy them every year.

2) The criteria used for the rankings are usually poorly selected.

3) You can't really "rank" BU itself--there are vast differences between each school. It's more useful to rank by major or discipline. SAR, ENG, SMG and COM are all top programs. From what I can tell, our astronomy program is not.

4) If the program you're in is really good, job recruiters (at least local ones) will take notice no matter what the rankings say. You may have a problem if you're profession is more "academic."

yeh i agree i just wanted to know what yall thot...but when does the updated US News rankings come out?!

bump..................

the new PR book comes out in a month.

so does this mean that people get accepted to BU with GPAs of 3.3? hmm i may apply..
