I don't know if it's just me but whenever I'm looking around CC I see all these people with GPA's of like 3.7 and their ranked like #5-10 of their class? What the ****? At my school if you get like a 3.7 you'll be in the top 50% and I go to a craphole high school...can anyone explain?

Not all schools have the same GPA system… Some are weighted, others are unweighted, and some are on different scales. Basically, a 3.7 at your school is not necessarily equivalent to a 3.7 at another school. Does that explain it at all?

^I agree. I had less than a 3.7 UW GPA sophomore year and I was ranked 7/450. But in my school, honors and AP classes are heavily weighted so you are rewarded for taking a tougher course load.

This is why it’s rank that matters, whether your school officially ranks or not.
