GPA's at Alabama

OK, somewhat random question, but one worth asking.

So, I know A+'s at Alabama are 4.33 and A-'s are 3.77’s. I also know that your cumulative GPA cannot be above a 4.0. Here’s my question:

Can someone get, say, X hours of all A+'s their freshman year, a 4.33, and then get X hours of A-'s their sophomore year, a 3.77, and come out of it with a 4.0? Essentially, can someone build in cushion-room for their GPA, or does anything above a 4.0 essentially vanish after each semester or year?

DS ended up with “bonus” quality points last year. (Above a 4.0) Expectations are that those will be available to help with anything below an A in the future.

^Now THAT is an awesome policy.

Yes, because those extra quality points stay in the culmulative quality points total used to calculate your overall GPA.

An A- is 3.67, not 3.77.
