GPAs

My school give a weighted GPA, between 1.0 - 5.0 where and A (90-100) is 4.0 and an A in an AP (Only AP or co-op academic courses count) is 5.0. This means a high GPA ends up about 4.3. The problem is that it looks like many school give 5.0 credit for an hnors course. In that case my GPA would be about much higher. Do colleges see that and think you/your school is weak?

Even with high SAT scores...

It is common for high school districts to give different 'bumps' to honors and AP courses when calculating gpa.

Colleges use your gpa and rank in conjunction since some high schools grade harder than others. One high school may have 40 valedictorians with 4.0's and the valedictorian in another high school may have a 3.9. If your hs doesn't rank, they will estimate your rank from the high school's profile. Also, the elite colleges may recalculate everybody's gpa in order to standardize it (only academic courses are used). Large public universities are more numbers driven.

from what i heard, colleges don't give a crap about your weighted GPA because so many schools do it differently, at my school a 90 is a 3.5!! I hear they just take your unweighted, and add weight to it using their own methods. My friend told me that at UC for example, they take your unweighted percentages, and for "approved" honors and AP courses, they add 8 percent to it.
