Gracias letter for merit scholarships

Has anyone who recieved a merit scholarship been asked to write one? The notification letter mentioned something like ..."you may be asked" to write a letter thanking those who made your scholarship possible or something. Just wondering- anyone?

It's a courtesy or appreciation letter indicating that you, the recipient, are grateful for the scholarship, and that you feel so humble and thankful that the agency took great consideration into you. It's not a big deal.

Yes, thank you I do understand the premises of a thank you letter. I was asking if anyone has been called on to write one, since the letter didn't explicitly say you had to write one-it just implied that you might be asked to. Anyone?

It was in my letter but I was never contacted about writing a thank you

Same here; i haven't been asked (yet)

Is it a hassle to write one out of good faith?

No request here either (for my D).

it might just be due to that money that was sent over from a country that was pledging money to help the universities. I can't remember the name exactly, but I remember they pledged 10 million to help out the school, and the school used it to help out the students. So in all respects because the money is coming from somewhere not Tulane, it should make sense for this thanks letter.

actually i think the letter is for alumni who have donated funds. the country was Qatar and the money was actually earmarked for scholarships for students who were victims of the hurricane in the gulf region (alabama, miss., la., etc.)
