Grad school & ABET accreditation?

Does graduating from a school with an ABET accreditation in your major (comp sci in my case) affect/increase the chances of getting into a good grad program? Or is it just for jobs?

I'm a bit on the fence with ABET, since some (if not, a good majority) good comp Sci schools aren't ABET accredited (I.e: CMU, UCSD), but are exceptional schools.

ABET is of most importance in engineering fields where professional licensure is an issue (like civil engineering), is less important in fields where it is not (like my own electrical engineering), and is much less important in newer fields where accreditation is not consistent (like comp sci).

For CS, I would think of it this way - has anyone heard of your school at a national level in comp sci? If so, then accreditation is not really necessary. If not, if people have to ask the kind of question that imply they are not sure if the school really exists, then accreditation might be vital. Remember, when people ask about accreditation, they are really just asking if someone has gone there to make sure it isn’t just a diploma mill. Tell someone at Stanford that you went to South Central Louisiana State (go Muddogs!) and they are going to want SOME kind of verification that it really exists.
