Hi Everyone!
So I had posted on here more than an year ago, I guess, to help estimate my chances for clinical psych graduate school. Last year, I had a 2.92 GPA and most of the people had advised me to take another year. So, since last year I have improved a lot. I have been getting a 3.8 or 4.0 GPA every semester and my current GPA is 3.25. My GRE score is 320 and 4 in analytical writing. I have been working in 3 research labs, 2 clinical and 1 quant psych. I am in the process of writing a paper with my quant psych lab adviser. I also worked in the office of a psychiatrist over the summer. Now I would like people to help me figure out my chances of getting admitted to any grad school. I want to work in the mood and personality disorders or mindfulness area. I really would like to know what universities I have the best shot at? Lists would be good but any help at all is appreciated.
Thanks!

We can’t help you figure out your chances - especially not in a field like clinical psychology, which is very competitive. What we can do, however, is suggest how competitive a candidate you are.

A 3.25 cumulative GPA is much better than before, but still a little lower than most PhD programs would prefer. Your GRE scores are good though (I’m assuming an average of about 160 on each section, which is above average; in the future, you shouldn’t add together your GRE scores but report them separately for each section). How long have you been working in those 3 research labs? That’s going to be crucial: 3 labs over 1.5 years is very different from 3 labs over 3 years. And there are a lot of graduate programs that do mood and/or personality disorders.

I think you’d be a decent candidate for some mid-ranked clinical psychology programs, assuming that you have 2+ years of research experience.

My GRE scores are Verbal:160 and Quantitative: 160 (Sorry about not specifying that before). I have been working for my quant lab for about 2.5 years now and almost an year and half each for both the clinical labs. I’m quite positive that I will receive strong letters of recommendation from all three labs. The psychiatrist I worked with has also given me a quite strong letter. I’m just not sure which universities I should be applying to. I have gone through the rankings and have looked into the medium and low tier universities. But even those show that their avg gap of incoming class is 3.6-3.8. That is why I want to know which universities I should look into that would accept a gpa like mine.
