You can’t really “chance” grad school admissions. Your research experiences and interests will determine your fit for each department, and other factors - such as funding, whether your POI is accepting new students, and the competitiveness of the applicant pool that year - will all have an impact on your chances. I suggest applying widely to programs of various ranking, but which all have a strong fit for your interests. I will also suggest that you try to raise your GRE scores if you have the opportunity. High scores won’t get you in, but they can keep you out depending on the standard for your programs.
