grad school for engineering or architecture?

anyone know any good grad schools for civil engineering or architecture? im thinking about going into one of those paths.

There are plenty. What are you looking for specifically? What's your criteria? You posed a very general question.

oh hmm.. well i just applied to UCLA as a trasnfer student for fall 2008. Im not sure what specifics are there? Any good schools in California?

I'm not sure what information you're trying to get exactly? There are plenty of good schools in civil engineering and architecture all over the country. The top schools in California in civil engineering are Stanford, Berkley, CalTech, USC, UCLA, and many more. Architecture, I'm not so familiar with, but I hear USC, UCLA, and Berkely have pretty good programs.

Once you get into your coursework in major, you'll need to pick a concentration, a specific field within civil engineering, to do your graduate studies in. Again, I'm not so sure how the architecture programs work, but I haven't heard of them having any specializations. If you take the engineering route, you should look for schools that are good in that specific area you're interested in.

okay cool. thanks. i was thinking more of going towards structural engineering tho. but i will search more info for my concentration.

Berkeley is tops in civil engineering -- literally rated #1 -- Stanford can't be far behind. And all the others that were named.

Stanford doesn't have architecture. Berkeley does and it is quite well thought of. But my impression (I've dated architects -- that's where I've gotten my knowledge, so take it with a grain) that for achitecture Harvard and Yale are superb. I can't imagine UCLA wouldn't be pretty good in architecture if it has a school.
